Winslow still in race against Barrios and Galluccio
Over at The Alewife, Neil McCabe reports that Somerville City Planner and Senate hopeful Stephen Winslow has postponed his decision to withdraw from the race against Senator Jarrett Barrios and his opponent, Cambridge City Councilor Anthony Galluccio. Perhaps in a show of the political capital we at the Progressive Democrats of Cambridge (PDC) have built since last November's municipal elections (that is, hosting the largest and most well-attended candidate's forum), Winslow tells McCabe that the reason for holding-off on deciding what to do is to keep the opportunity to address PDC this Thursday.
In addition to Winslow, PDC will be hosting the incumbent Barrios. I'm sure that Barrios will give his standard pitch, citing family reasons for withdrawing from the D.A. race and touting his legislative success in crime/gang-reduction. It will be interesting to see, however, how his campaign pitch will change now that he's back to running for Senate. I also can't wait to see just what Winslow says, given that he seemed to be interested in filling the progressive void in Barrios' absence. Now, I wonder what rational he will give in asking for progressive support given that he now faces the prospect of two opponents, both with actual legislative records and prior electoral experience.
Anyways, the Progressive Democrats of Cambridge meeting is 7:00 this Thursday, April 27th at Mob Space, 45 Mt. Auburn Street, Harvard Square.
