Galluccio Out?
According to The Somerville News, Cambridge City Councilor Anthony Galluccio will announce his withdrawal from the State Senate race against Jarett Barrios:
Anthony Galluccio will end his bid for Jarett T. Barrios' Essex, Suffolk and Middlesex County Senate seat today, said a source inside the Barrios campaign.
The source said Senate President Robert E. Travaglini will host a 3 p.m. press conference at City Hall today to announce Galluccio's departure from the race.
If this is in fact true, it essentially gives Barrios a clear shot to re-election. Having started running for the seat at basically the first moment Barrios expressed interest in the DA's race, Galluccio was the incumbent's only real hurdle in this race. Apparently there are a few others who plan to run, both Democrats and Independents, but they're essentially no-namers without any shot of unseating a popular incumbent.
