Capuano and Bono Take on Black Boxes, ie, Psychiatrists?
The Alewife Editor Neil McCabe has an article up on his newsblog about Congressman Capuano teaming up with California Representative Mary Bono on a new piece of legislation targeting car dealers.
In an effort to protect consumer privacy, Capuano said he and Bono filed the bill calling for automobile dealers to disclose to consumers the presence of black boxes' in new automobiles. The bill...also requires manufacturers to provide consumers with the option of enabling and disabling such devices in future automobiles.
I find the Capuano-Bono team a fascinating mix. It seems to me that for liberal stalwart Capuano, the decision to sponsor this legislation is a natural extension of the strong opposition to intrusive surveillance that the Congressman has demonstrated.
By why would Congresswoman Bono decide to sign on? I'm not sure what the answer is, but perhaps the only Scientologist in Congress is concerned that Psychologists are listening in on the other end, trying to convince drivers to kill themselves...
