Design Your Own Parking Permit

Who knows how parking permits are generally designed? In Boston the permits show a landmark from the neighborhood they cover and never seem to change from year to year. Somerville's permits never change much either, and are even less interesting with just a big number shown to correspond with the ward you live in.

Here in Cambridge we do things differently. Every year the City's Traffic, Parking and Transportation Department sends out a call to residents for photographic submissions of City buildings and historic landmarks. The 2005 permit showed a classic photo of the Weeks Bridge over the Charles, while this year's permit has shot of Dana Park in Cambridgeport.

Just recently the city put out it's call for submissions for the 2007 permit. Digital photographs can be sent to rppcontest@cambridgema.gov. The contest runs until July 31st.
