Working Families Party Candidate Submits Signatures to Appear on Ballot

This just in from Rand Wilson, Working Families Party candidate for State Auditor:

Candidate for state Auditor Rand Wilson to submit certified signatures -- earning a place on the November ballot

Wilson, and supporters of the Working Families Party, will be turning in over 6,000 certified signatures to Secretary Galvin's office to put his name on the ballot

"This is no symbolic protest candidacy," said Wilson. "I'm running to build support for a new Working Families Party in Massachusetts that will refocus the political agenda on the bread-and-butter economic issues that both of the major political parties have too often ignored."

"And I'm doing it now because the Mass Ballot Freedom Campaign (www.massballotfreedom.com) has put Question 2 on the ballot this fall," Wilson added. "If passed, it will allow voters to form useful independent parties that can keep politicians more accountable to a specific platform of issues and ideas."

Once Galvin approves the signature, Wilson will officially become an independent candidate for State Auditor since the Working Families Party is not yet recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He will be the only challenger to incumbent Democrat Joseph DeNucci. The man endorsed by the Massachusetts GOP did not collect enough signatures.

Later this week I will be sitting down with Rand Wilson to talk about his candidacy and why independent progressives and progressive Democrats should support him. If you have any particular questions you'd like asked, please leave them in the comments here. I'll post a full report early next week.
