First Suffolk and Middlesex special senate election forum

I’m about a block outside the district in Jarrett Barrios territory, but I wanted to share information about a forum the Cambridge Democratic City Committee is hosting with the candidates in the special election to replace Robert Travaglini in the State Sentae:

DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FORUM

Special Election for Robert Travaglini’s Senate Seat
The First Suffolk and Middlesex Senate District

Ask Questions of the Democratic Candidates Running
in the May 29, 2007 Primary Election

The Candidates are:

State Representative Anthony Petruccelli (East Boston)

City Councilor Daniel Rizzo
(Revere)

Where: LBJ Apartments, 150 Erie Street, Cambridge

When: Tuesday, May 8, 2007, 7:00 – 8:30 P.M.

Last Day to Register to Vote: Wednesday, May 9, 2007

Sponsored by Cambridge Democratic City Committee

I don’t know much about either of these candidates, but the sense I get from talking to people who are more tuned in to this than me is that Petruccelli is the insider candidate, supported by Travaglini and the Democratic establishment. Rizzo is apparently more of an outsider, and says as much on mailings his been sending out to voters in the district.

Dan Rizzo seem like a well centered and connected Guy. I like him because he is not a flip flopper or a phony.

Most important he is a liberal.

  2. Stan Says:

There seems to be some confusion about Dan Rizzo’s positions as a real liberal. In Revere he touts his membership in the St. Mary’s Holy Name Society yet in Cambridge he is pro marriage equality and choice.
In a recent debate His awnswer for local economic developmentwas his support of a resort cassino he wants to be built at Suffolk Downs.
Also just an FYI, Dan does not live in the district. His State Senator is Jarrett Barrios. He has not given any indication of if or where he will be moving to if he wins, nor if he will give up his Revere City Council seat and be a full time Senator for us.
I am a supporter of Anthony Petruccelli and above are some of the reasons why.

  3. Frank Says:

Funny stand Stan. Jarret Barrios also belongs to the holy name in membership too. Perhaps he is not a liberal.

The fact is Dan is catholic but also feels strongly about marriage equality. Yet your bigotted position only lends to the idea that you can’t be liberal and catholic..Hmmm Maybe Kennedy is a republican too,

Tell Anthony and his shaved leg we say hi here on otis st…
Then again you won’t here how your guy flipped on gay marriage, and labor will you.

  4. Bob Says:

Both TOOOOOOO Liberal …..What will either bring …..MORE taxes …Less Morality !!!!!!!!
