Paintball on Cambridge Street?

Earlier in the month my next door neighbor, Antiques on Cambridge, closed its doors forever. I had been under the impression, due to a meeting that the property owner had with us neighbors, that the building would be torn down and — surprise, surprise — developed in to luxury condos.

Now I noticed this homemade sign taped to the front of the still-to-be-emptied-of-antiques building:

As a community organizer who works in the affordable housing field, I generally disdain the proliferation of luxury condos in [formerly] working-class areas. Never thought there’d be a day when I’d pine for them to be built right next to my house. I’ll bet young professionals in fancy houses are better neighbors than testosterone driven fat boys with air-powered balls of paint.

At least you’re not the judgemental type.

Well, it could be a case of financing (for the condos) falling through at the last minute. It happens. It might not be bad - as long as they keep their paintball antics inside the building. There’s a park near my house and to my dismay paintballers spent a Saturday in there firing away happily. Little pink, green, and blue empty spheres were left all over the place when they finished.
