These endorsements may ultimately get me kicked off the Cambridge Ward 3 Democratic Committee…

Support MoveOn: Endorse Fusion Voting

Monday, October 16th, 2006

moveon.jpgWith all the attention focused on the Governor’s race this year, the three Ballot Questions in the November election are receiving very little attention. While Question 1, about wine in grocery stores, has some big names behind it, Questions 2 and 3 are banking on low-budget, grassroots campaigns. For my part, I have attempted to highlight the importance of Fusion Voting (Question 2) with a three-part series on View from the ‘Bridge. I also support Question 3 which would allow private childcare workers bargin collectively with the State.

For those of you who agree with me, here’s a great way to have a big impact on these low-profile campaigns. MoveOn.org is currently asking members and supporters to vote on whether or not the organization should endorse Questions 2 and 3. While their endorsement may not bring a ton of money or field support, it will help raise the profile for these important initiatives to the thousands of MoveOn members across Massachusetts.

There are key differences, but in many ways Deval Patrick sparks the same admiration in me that I always had for Paul Wellstone - the late Minnesota Senator that many of you know I have idolized so much.
