Thursday, January 17th, 2008

The folks over at Local.com seem to think that View from the ‘Bridge is the official website of the City of Cambridge :

I’m flattered, but not sure I want to take credit for everything that happens here…

Ashton Kutcher is more famous than Betty White

Friday, April 20th, 2007

In order to get my blog rolling again, and move the emotional blog post about my grandfather from the top spot, I will recommend this totally random and addictive game to you.

Famousr, is kinda like a celebrity Hot or Not. Instead of selecting the attractiveness of some random schmuck in need of validation by anonymous strangers, however, you chose who is more famous (or, famousr as the case may be) between two celebrities. The correct answer is based on which celebrity was deemed the most famous by previous players. Simple game, but very addictive.

My score is 34 in a row. Beat that!

New Website Lists Moi as an Expert(!?)

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

For the last few weeks I’ve noticed a strange referral link in my web stats, from a strange website at http://www.outside.in. I had tried to visit the link a few times, but it required a password to view anything.

Then yesterday I got an email from a guy named Steve, announcing the launching of a new website called, Outside.in. According to his message:

Our vision for the site is this: You sit at a computer and type in a street address, or a neighborhood name, or a zip code…and within seconds the screen gives you a glimpse of all the textured, real-world issues and conversations and news unfolding in the location you’ve entered. Up to now, only the most connected local experts in any neighborhood could keep up with all these evolving conversations. outside.in is designed to let you see it all in seconds.

Taking a look at the site, it looks like Shai Sachs’ Blog for Cambridge, The Alewife, and myself are listed as the local Cambridge area blogs. I’m glad to be included on this new site at such an early stage, and want to encourage people to take a look.

But this all begs the question… When in the hell did I become one of the “most connected local experts” in Cambridge!?

Update on Mark Warner’s Virtual Press Conference

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Hotline On Call has the scoop from Mark Warner’s Second Life press conference. I’ll excerpt it here, but you should go there for the full post:

Gov. Warner appeared for a while, posing for photographs.

Apparently, CNN’s Internet team was preparing a segment and a producer needed some footage. Then, suddenly, Warner turned gray, and then transformed on stage into a nude, buxom woman and flew off.

Hamlet Au, the event’s host explained that Warner was “respawning.”

If this is where politics is headed, I fear we’ll soon be governed only by horny grown online role playing gamers sitting in their elderly parents basements, wearing briefs and drinking Jolt soda. Yeah for democracy!

Mark Warner Has a Second Life

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Last week, my friend Ian Wilson wondered on his blog whether the new website, Second Life, will have a real effect on the music industry. For those who don’t know, Second Life is:

…a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by 264,281 people from around the globe.

Basically, think the freak offspring of a drunken night between Myspace and The Sims. Not only do you get to create an online profile to communicate with friend (real and virtual) but you can actually engage other members in 3D for in real time. Who needs real relationships anymore?
